Z1's Pathfinder Supercharger Kit is a complete forced-induction package engineered around the VQ40DE engine. At its core is the largest supercharger ever fitted to the VQ40, paired with a dedicated fuel system and the supporting components required to properly utilize its increased airflow capacity. Rather than adapting a universal blower to the Pathfinder, Z1 developed the system as a complete package with the Pathfinder's chassis, engine, and supporting systems in mind.
Building on years of forced induction experience and the successful implementation on other Nissan platforms, this new kit features the Harrop HTV1900 blower, the largest supercharger unit ever mounted to a VQ40. Z1's Supercharger Kit was designed to be the final word in VQ40 forced induction. It’s not just about adding boost; it’s about creating a complete ecosystem of performance, cooling, and fueling, refined and tested by the team that knows these engines inside and out. This kit was designed to be installed in a garage by the average enthusiast, without the need for special tools, intricate knowledge, or complex processes.
THE BLOWER
The entirety of our supercharger kit is based around a 1.9L Harrop HTV blower. This supercharger uses Eaton's latest roots-style TVS rotating assembly, offering unmatched performance in a compact package. The Harrop HTV supercharger's design features patented four-lobe rotors with high-flow inlet and outlet ports that greatly enhance thermal efficiency, deliver higher volumetric capacity, and enable higher operating speeds. The HTV supercharger is capable of running with high efficiency across a very wide operating range, producing exceptional increases in horsepower and torque throughout the RPM range. This is great for trucks in all use cases, from regular commuting to towing your jet ski's to the lake. The HTV1900 uses self-contained fluids and requires no service throughout the life of the blower.
Beneath the supercharger is a massive dual-pass water-to-air intercooler fed by an even larger dual-pass heat exchanger. This intricate cooling system works to keep charge air temperatures lower under all conditions to produce consistent performance whether you're racing your buddy's Tacoma or towin' a load.
Installation Note: Due to the tall height of the blower assembly, non body-lifted trucks will need the inner structure of the hood to be trimmed to clear the front of the blower. This is an easy modification that is not visible from the outside of your truck.
Automatic Transmission Note: You will need to purchase Z1's Supercharger Compatible Transmission Cooler or bypass the factory transmission cooler (this is not advised) to complete your supercharger install. The factory cooler core interferes with the supercharger's cooling system and is not compatible.
The Power Levels
Z1's Supercharger Kit will be available at multiple power levels, with each offering reasonable power gains over stock.
Level 1 - This produced 309rwhp and 307wtq on 93 octane fuel, giving us 59whp and 22wtq more than the same manual Xterra produced only days earlier. Because this truck, like so many, was already modified, the baseline on this truck is irregularly high. In most cases, we generally see stock VQ40's producing approximately 220whp and 220wtq, giving us an approximate gain of 89whp and 87wtq over a completely stock VQ40!
Level 2 - This produced 350rwhp and 343wtq on 93 octane fuel, giving us 102whp and 58wtq more than our baseline and 132whp and 123wtq more than a completely stock VQ40.
Level 3 - This level produced a solid 443whp and 441wtq on 93 octane fuel, giving us 193whp and 156wtq more than our baseline and 223whp and 221wtq more than a completely stock VQ40.
Level 4 - This option represents the absolute maximum we've produced on a VQ40, and may very well be the highest HP ever recorded on a VQ40.
On 93 octane fuel (the blue line on the graph below), our truck made 470whp and 440wtq, giving us 220whp and 155wtq more than our baseline and 250whp and 220wtq more than a completely stock VQ40.
Going a step further, E85 fuel (the red line on the graph below) gave us a final output of an astounding 501whp and 459 wtq. This gives us OVER DOUBLE the power that this truck was originally producing, gaining 251whp and 174wtq. On a stock VQ40, this equals about 281whp and 239wtq in gains.
