Nissan Titan 9-Speed Transmission Pan Armor is a steel cover developed to protect the 9-speed Jatco JR913E's plastic transmission pan, found in all 2020+ Nissan Titan's. Made from 2mm thick stainless steel plate, this cover was designed to resist impact damage from loose rocks, sticks, and other media that may come in contact with it either on or off road. All sides of the panel extend upwards from the base by 46mm, offering protection to the side walls and mounting flange of the pan. By incorporating a service panel, removal of the cover is not necessary to service the transmission. Like other Z1 products, installation is easy and requires no modifications to the pan or nearby transmission components.
Why do I need it?
Not long ago, we experienced a major failure on our Frontier that is equipped with the same 9-speed automatic transmission as the 2020+ Titan. While driving through a relatively clear trail, a small stick no larger than a pencil was kicked up by the front tires, puncturing the plastic transmission pan. This damage was unknown to us at the time, but after continuing down the trail we noticed the check engine light came on and the transmission started slipping. Fortunately, we caught this early, and no permanent damage was done, but had this occurred at speed on an interstate or highway, we would probably be replacing the transmission. Without hesitation, we immediately began the design of a shield to prevent this failure so others don't run the risk of causing catastrophic damage.
