Product Description

On a modified 300ZX Twin Turbo, upgraded intercoolers replace a restriction in the intake tract (stock intercoolers). Stock ICs were designed for the flow produced by stock turbos at around 10 psi.   
As flow increases, whether it be turning up the boost on stock turbos with an ECU upgrade or upgrading to one of our new GTX turbo kits,  the amount of restriction increases also.  Replacing the restrictive stock units (or any other intercooler & stock piping on the market for that matter) with the Z1 Big SMIC kit results in power gains which are proportional to the increase in flow rate.  

While the original Z1 SMIC kit has set the standard for years, the market has reached new peaks and demanded more as higher limits of performance have become the standard. 
The demand for superior response, higher flow rates, and the best cooling capabilities has been addressed. 
Enter the Z1 2.5” Intercooler Piping & Intercooler Combo.
This kit has been engineered to perform! A focus on performance effectiveness and ease of installation was paramount, all the while trying to minimize potential points for failure. Similar to Nissan’s OE approach we have opted to utilize boost hoses instead of the common hard pipe. This has reduced potential leak points by 25% when compared to every other system on the market. The lack of joints using the 4 boost hoses instead of piping and couplers means the amount of pipe leading edges in a system, that can bring down air velocity due to drag, has also been reduced by 25%.

After having the chance to install other piping kits on the market, it was clear that better fitment was key to customer satisfaction. To ensure this without sacrificing the performance our system maintains round pipes throughout; nothing flattened here! While any larger piping kit in the tight 300ZX engine bay can be challenging to install, the Z1 kit can even be installed with the radiator in place. In fact the hardest part is removing stock pipes!

Now that you have the supported flow, you want to cool it right? Perhaps run a little more boost safely on a daily basis?  
Don’t worry Z1’s new Big Side Mount Intercoolers are serious about cooling. With 15 rows of bar and plate cooling, they are the largest available on the market.

Cast high flow end tanks are tig welded to our colossal 10” x 8” x 4.5” cores. Smooth transitions with ample end tank volume means tanks that aren’t choked off to the core. This results in a more even charge distribution to best dissipate heat throughout the staggered fin cores. The Z1 BIG SMIC’s have over 60% more rows to flow than our standard Z1 SMIC’s so we have implemented a slightly higher fin density to maximize cooling capacity without giving up flow.  The more you are able to cool the intake charge coming from the turbos, the more power you are going to make and the less likely you are to have problems with detonation. So not only is the Z1 2.5” Piping and Big SMIC kit of benefit to performance but also to the safety and reliability of your power plant. You can make more power on our upgraded intercoolers while actually making it easier on your engine and turbos. You will make more power at the same boost levels, but, because your intake charge will be cooled more than it is with the stock ICs or inferior intercoolers on the market, you can also turn up the boost higher while staying in the safe
zone below where any detonation might occur.

These giant intercoolers install using stock hardware, and the factory ducts will fit just fine. While they are bolt on, due to their sheer size, they do require more work than our standard SMIC kit. Removal of the charcoal canister and modifying the turn signals will be required.  

High quality 4 ply reinforced silicone couplers finish out the package in your choice of Black, Blue, or Red. Piping finishes are in stock in Black or Polished Aluminum. Need a custom finish? Call us for details on our powder coating options.

With this kit including the B.A. intercoolers, fit and use the intercooler ducts with the JDM front fascia perfectly? Also I imagine you will encounter the same issues with the turn signals that you would on a usdm model. Just considering a few upgrades. Thanks!
The intercooler ducts will need to be trimmed at the front with any thicker core intercooler. Generally we can modify the A-Spec ducts to work fairly well (which are shorter than the J-Spec). Regarding the turn signals yes you will still need to tweak them. Regards, The Z1 Team
