This is a good choice for the luxury/sport G build, not the Z. I'd go B&M short shifter if I had a Z for a more stiff solid built-in socket cup and shorter stick height reduction(27%) sport/race feel, and you don't have to pay $50 for a new OEM socket cup to go with the Z1 Short Shifter LOL. For my G37, I wanted to retain that factory luxury feel without sacrificing NVH at all. This is EXACTLY that, it is also the most modern(2023 release date according to A.I.) take on OEM replacement/upgrade towards a slightly more sporty feel for the sole purpose of "shorter throw" while retaining slight 5-10% cushy feel when thrown in gears due to its solid rubber-dampened core for lesser NVH. The height of this remains close to stock height after installation. I was going to install the Z1 Shifter Support Bracket Bushings(solid aluminum) to eliminate that remaining 5-10% rubber cushy feel, but after installing this and testing it, it is just perfect and right there with my taste of feel and build style for the luxury/sport G. I might just return the solid aluminum support bracket bushings and the mtec springs, because the feel on this Z1 Short Shifter was a match made in heaven for my taste of luxury/vip G build. Nonetheless, I have also encountered the problem of 10ft-lb torque spec on tightening the bolt under the car. At first it was super stiff and hard af to thrown in gear and i thought the 10ft-lb was way too much due to the Linkage bushings not seating right or was too thick, but after loosening it all the way and tightening from 4ft-lb to 8ft-lb multiple times for the perfect sweet spot, it became perfect, and then I torqued it to 10ft-lb one last time mainly cause of my faith in Z1 instructions, viola! it's perfect! 10ft-lb is perfect too! You might also want to wiggle the shifter around while you are in your driver seat to help seat the Linkage Bushings. I hope this helps you guys with your decisions on your ideal project builds!
