Stock transmission coolers are fine for everyday driving but struggle under heavy use. Tube-and-fin cores like the factory cooler rely on thin metal tubes and fins to shed heat. This works until your truck is towing, carrying heavy gear, or loaded for overland adventures. Roof-top tents, armor, bigger wheels and tires, and extra cargo all add load that generates heat in your transmission.
This is where a stacked-plate core makes a real difference. With far more surface area and improved fluid flow compared to tube-and-fin designs, it dissipates heat more efficiently. Lower transmission fluid temperatures mean less wear on your transmission and more confidence that your Xterra or Frontier can handle towing, off-road trails, or fully loaded overland trips.
Two performance levels:
The standard cooler utilizes a compact 19-row core, offering ample fluid cooling performance for street-driven trucks where maximum cooling is not required. Also works well with vehicles that require more space for other coolers in front of the core support, particularly with Z1's Supercharger Kit.
An optional upgrade is available featuring a MASSIVE 34-row core, providing the most fluid cooling capability. Perfect for trail rigs with lots of load, of vehicles that are primarily used for towing.
Regardless of choice, either core option will provide notable increases in cooling system performance compared to the factory 16-row tube-and-fin core.
