This is the generator that keeps the electrical current flowing throughout the system while the vehicle is running. If your vehicle has a faulty alternator then the vehicle may cut-off while driving, or cut-off while idling. When replacing a faulty alternator it is a highly recommended to charge the vehicles battery before attempting to turn on the vehicle after replacing the alternator. Failure to use a charged battery when cranking the vehicle after replacing the alternator may cause issues with the new alternator.
