This is the OEM Alternator for the VK56DE powertrain. This is the generator that keeps the electrical current flowing throughout the system while the vehicle is running. If your vehicle has a faulty alternator then the vehicle may cut-off while driving, or cut-off while idling. When replacing a faulty alternator it is a highly recommended to charge the vehicles battery before attempting to turn on the vehicle after replacing the alternator. Failure to use a charged battery when cranking the vehicle after replacing the alternator may cause issues with the new alternator.

It is recommended to replace the drive belt as well when replacing the alternator.
