OEM PCV Hose for 2001-2004 Nissan Pathfinder models equipped with the VQ35DE powertrain.
This PCV Hose is located on the top of the Driver's Side Valve Cover.
The main function of this PCV Hose is to prevent harmful gases and oil vapors from escaping from the engine and entering the atmosphere. Signs your PCV Hose may need to be replaced include:
- Cracks or splits: Over time, the PCV hose can become brittle and develop cracks or splits. These can cause air leaks, which can negatively impact engine performance and fuel economy.
- Wear and tear: PCV hoses can become worn over time due to exposure to heat and oil. If the hose becomes soft or swollen, it may not fit tightly on the PCV valve or the intake manifold, which can cause air leaks.
- Oil leaks: If the PCV hose becomes clogged or damaged, it can cause oil leaks around the engine. These leaks can be identified by the presence of oil around the PCV valve or hose.
- Check engine light: A malfunctioning PCV hose can cause the check engine light to come on. If this happens, the vehicle should be taken to a mechanic to diagnose the problem.
In general, it is recommended to inspect the PCV hose during routine maintenance and replace it every 60,000 to 100,000 miles or as needed.
