Mufflers are known for being the root of a lot of exhaust leaks. If you live in the north or near a beach, it is common for a muffler to rust and wear down which will eventually cause an exhaust leak. Sometimes the interior insulation will also deteriorate and shoot out the tail pipe which will require you to replace your muffler.
