Over time, the catalytic converters may clog up due to the buildup of carbon deposits, and this will cause the internal honeycomb filter to heat up and possibly melt or deform. A vehicle without properly functioning catalytic converters will not pass an emissions test if your city/county requires this government vehicle inspection.
