Why do you need them?
Rock sliders are a crucial accessory for off-road vehicles. The rocker panels on the sides of your Xterra are susceptible to damage when driving over rocks or uneven terrain, and a large enough impact is capable of collapsing the rocker into the door, resulting in extensive body damage. Rock sliders cover and protect these panels, minimizing the risk of damage. Whether you're rock crawling in MOAB or driving on a forest service road, you'll want the protection they offer.
DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
Z1 Rock Sliders are built to raise the proverbial bar, implementing advanced construction methods to produce a final product with unmatched strength and rigidity. The body of the slider is constructed from 2" x .120" DOM tubing and welded to 1/2" thick steel plates where mounted to the frame. All support struts, from the frame plates to the main tube, are built with saddle gussets. The support struts from the frame to the main tube are gusseted on the vertical plane, providing maximum protection from rock strikes and high-impact scenarios. The anchor plates wrap all the way around and through the frame to provide the most secure and rigid mounting solution. Available in a standard flat design to be used as a step or with an angled kick-up. On the angled slider, the outer tube is angled up 25°, providing the most ground clearance without compromising body coverage. The flat slider receives a minimal angle of about 5° to ensure any contact occurs on the main tube first in most situations. Designs were validated using FEA (finite element analysis) and real-world testing to verify the strength and durability under varying degree of circumstances.
Z1 Rock Sliders are also compatible with a 2" body lift and can be configured as such without the need for modifications or additional parts. As a bonus, the rear portion of the slider has a slight kick-out to function as a rear step or to ease access to the roof rack.
