Product Description
This kit includes all of the basic components needed to service the rear timing cover oil gallery gaskets on your 4.0L VQ40DE equipped Nissan Frontier.
The oil galley gaskets on Nissan's 4.0L VQ40DE engine are installed underneath the oil gallery plates on the rear timing cover. When this gasket fails and begins to seep, oil pressure will drop resulting in oil starvation and potential catastrophic engine failure. If you're seeing low oil pressure symptoms, such as low readings, check engine light with P0011 or P0021 codes, or excessive VTC and valvetrain rattle we recommend you do not run the engine until you have this checked, to minimize the risk of engine damage.
In this kit, we've opted to include allen head hardware to help ensure torque across the oil gallery cover plates is even.
**This kit is included in the OEM Master Timing Kit and is located HERE.**
If you're servicing the timing components on your VQ40, replacing the oil gallery gaskets as a preventative measure is extremely important!

Excellent economical fix for a problem that can cost a few hundred dollars to replace the rear timing cover. A bit tricky to get the original Phillips screws out, but once out and holes cleaned of thread locker this kit makes it a breeze on reassembly with the supplied hex screws and better material gaskets to prevent future gasket blow out.

Good fit and packaging. Instructions are included but a Factory service manual will still be necessary to complete the repair. And don't forget to apply Loctite to the new hardware and to clean the oil out of the bolt holes in the rear timing cover.
The instructions don't cover this, but it is possible to complete the oil gallery gasket repair without completely removing the "REAR TIMING COVER."
