Z1's EVAP Breather Kit is used to relocate the breather hose for the charcoal canister on your Nissan Xterra. Much like our differential breather kit, the purpose of this is to move the breather for the charcoal canister to a better position where it is less susceptible to intrusion from dirt and water.
How important is this modification?
At Z1, we aren't in the business of selling you parts that you don't need. This EVAP breather kit was developed after many of our staff members experienced issues returning from trips off-road. This included check engine lights with reduced fuel economy, inability to fill the tank at gas stations, and a variety of other common EVAP problems. In every case, we found standing water inside the EVAP canister, clogged EVAP breathers, or EVAP purge solenoids stuck in an open position. Any one of these issues is enough to cause your check engine light to come on, and in some cases, we have seen other symptoms as a result of the EVAP system's inability to vent. Installing this kit allows you to relocate the breather to a higher location behind the tail light, away from water and dirt. This allows the EVAP system to breathe as intended with almost no risk of contamination. Installation is simple and requires no special tools or skills, just a little bit of your time.
