First time I had to do anything under the hood of my 22 SV, I hit my head 3 or 4 times. Factory hood struts are comical on this thing. Got these on sale and put them in as soon as I got them. Quick install and the 4-5” of added room is perfect. I was able to change my OEM battery when it died without concussing myself on the edge of the hood. This should be an absolute must have if you have a frontier.

Although they claim this only adds 4" of hood clearance, it feels like a lot more. Made a huge difference. My only gripe is that I keep reading that one end of the strut can't be removed without cutting it off with an angle grinder. This seems like an incredibly short-sighted design decision - at some point we are going to need to replace these, and having to break out a cutting tool is not a reasonable solution.

No instructions came with them. unable to install them with tiny pin retaining wire so I tried them the other way- with rod on wrong end- and unable to remove them- so I hope they don't fail or damage the truck mountings. Since they won't come off, I was forced to keep it on so to retain it on the other end I wired the socket on(looks really classy). So not I am not happy with them. If they fail or wear out I am going to have to cut them off with angel grinder and hopefully not damage the ball joints on my truck!!!!

Super fast and easy install. As long as you read and follow the directions, you’ll be fine. It took me a whole 3 minutes to swap out my factory hood struts for the Z1 struts. It’s honestly amazing how much more room I have under the hood now. Highly recommend.

Not sure why Nissan put hood struts that barely open the hood or hold it up. These actually make the hood open to a level where you don't feel like you are spelunking just to work on the engine.

Installed easily and quickly. Only issue was seeing the original clips as they were hidden in the grease from the old leaking struts. The extra 4 inches makes a big difference and it is nice to have the hood open all the way for a change. I also observed that the hood now opens an inch or two making it much easier to reach the inner hood latch and release it. Thanks for a great product.

these hood struts are excellent and well made, i was worried about my ditch light clearance because the hood goes up so much higher now but there is still plenty of room. z 1 sent me one right one and one wrong one, i called to tell them about my problem and two days later i had the rite part in my yard. the product gets 5 out of 5 stars, and z 1 cust ser gets 6 out of 5 stars !

My OEM gas struts went out. This is an absolute no brainer upgrade and gets the hood up out of the way. The travel on the OEM struts is pathetic compared to these.

If you do any work under the hood you need these. Side by side these don't look like they would make that much of a difference, but they really do make a really big difference on hood opening. Make sure when installing that you fully seat new strut listen for the snap. ** THANKFULLY I TOOK THE TIME TO READ THE INSTRUCTIONS AS THERE IS A DIFFERENT TYPE OF LOCK PIN ON THESE STRUTS AS COMPARED TO STOCK. NOT HARD TO FIGURE OUT JUST DIFFERENT, IF YOU DONT READ INSTRUCTIONS YOU WILL DAMAGE PIN AND THEY WILL NOT LOCK ON **

they do lift your hood more, so it works as advertised. however once you push that upper part onto the post it will never come off again. I dropped one of the little clips that hold the bottom on and Z1 wants $11 for a replacement. that's ridiculous for a tiny metal clip. I ended up just using a paperclip since it's impossible to remove them to put the old ones back on

Don't let anyone tell you that 4 inches isn't that much. These struts will make 4 inches feel like a foot under your hood. Much easier to dig around and get to. work under the hood. Easy to install and definitely gets the job done.

!00% spot on!! Increases my hood clearance like they are supposed to. No more banging me head on the hood anymore. I still can't understand why Nissan engineers supplied such low hood struts on a Frontier to begin with. Makes no sense to me, but now I don't have to worry about that anymore, thanks to Z1 Off-Road.
